Monthly Art #45

This is a monthly “newsletter”, containing a list of what I enjoyed the most last month. Whether it was a full length movie, short film, music album, book or even a painting.

What I am watching

A vertical prison with one cell per level. Two people per cell. One only food platform and two minutes per day to feed from up to down. An endless nightmare trapped in The Hole.

This movie reminded me of another one - Cube (1997). In both, a group of people is trapped inside an artificial construct (some believe it’s human-made, others think it’s a god’s creation). In both, people are trying to get out or “solve the puzzle.” The Platform explores the human psyche, social hierarchy, and structure.

Short video from Derek Sivers, where he talks about leadership. I’ve watched it like 20 times :D

How our brain works? Is there a free will? The talk is a bit long, but worth watching.

What I am reading

For I have a single definition of success: you look in the mirror every evening, and wonder if you disappoint the person you were at 18, right before the age when people start getting corrupted by life.

my belief is that it’s easier to become relatively good at real life activities relative to games or sports because there’s so little delibrate practice put into most real life activities.

Dan makes the parallel between training in the game and learning the skill in the real world.

So long
